The Paloma is a simple, refreshing mix of tequila and grapefruit soda, best served with a squeeze of fresh lime and grapefruit juice. While some modern recipes use fresh juice with a sweetener, traditional versions stick to grapefruit soda for ease. Brands like Ting, Squirt, and Jarritos work well, with lime juice adjusted to balance sweetness. Blanco tequila, like 123 Blanco or Tequila Ocho, is ideal for its fresh flavor, while mezcal adds a smoky twist. Stir gently to keep it bubbly and garnish for aroma.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. chilled grapefruit soda (preferably Ting)
  • 1½ oz. blanco tequila
  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice
  • ¼ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Grapefruit wedge or slice for garnish

Instructions:
Fill a highball glass about two-thirds with ice. Pour in approximately 2 oz. of grapefruit soda, filling the glass one-third full. Add the tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and a pinch of kosher salt. Top off with the remaining grapefruit soda, stir gently, and garnish with a wedge or slice of grapefruit.
