McDonald’s Sausage Egg McMuffin
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons softened butter (for multiple uses)
- 4 English muffins
- 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 slices American cheese
Instructions
Shape the sausage into four thin patties. Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels.
Split and toast the English muffins.
After toasting, spread softened butter on both halves of each muffin.
Place a sausage patty on each English muffin bottom.
In the same skillet used for the sausage, add about 1 tablespoon of butter.
Position quart-sized canning lids (screw side up) or egg rings in the skillet. Spray the lids with non-stick spray. Crack an egg into each ring. Break the yolk with a fork. Add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Cook until eggs are set, about 2 minutes.
Carefully remove the eggs from the rings and place one egg on each sausage patty. Top each egg with a slice of American cheese and then the top half of the English muffin.
Wrap each Egg McMuffin in foil or parchment paper. Let sit for about 30 seconds before serving.
